Craig — Although it wasn’t as crazy as Denver’s Kegs N Eggs, Sandrock Ridge residents partied their own way Sunday to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.

Residents wore green to avoid getting a pinch and feasted on green foods like grapes, shamrock cookies and green punch.

Irish music played in the background and chatted with friends about past St. Patrick’s Days.

Resident Tina Barstow said she had found a four-leaf clover once, an omen of good luck. She remembered her mother telling her to press the leaf so she would have it to look at.

Dressed in green pants and necklace with nails to match, Barstow said she hadn’t seen a leprechaun yet, but that was OK with her.

“I hope I don’t see any leprechauns,” Barstow chuckled. “If I do, they better put me away.”

Residents got a surprise visit from employee Nancy Vallem’s two dogs, as well as resident corgi Roxy. The dogs visited residents, snagging a treat here and there.

Even though it was a smaller party, residents partied harder than much of Craig, which didn’t seem to have any huge celebrations. Some restaurants did serve cabbage and leeks as well as offer drink specials for Irish car bombs and lagers.

But green beer was noticeably absent.

“It’s just nice everybody getting together,” Barstow said.
